living with your body

The funny thing is, when I was young, I felt invincible. Yes, there were sicknesses and injuries, but they were like fleeting moments. Everybody had them, but after one or two instances, you were back to full capacity.

One time, I fell and slid on asphalt from my bicycle. My leg was all bloody. But after just a few days, my 120% healing power restored my leg.

Then I grew up. Nobody told me that this would stop. Or perhaps they did, but I just didn't hear.

One time, I did a squat with improper form. There was a nick in my knee, and five years later, I still sometimes feel it. Then, I was jumping on a rock, got a bump, and now there's a debuff in my foot.

Well, it's not all over; I also have a broken bone. Maybe it would be fine. Yes, humans break bones, and they heal. The problem is that it broke one year ago. Yes, there are doctors, exercises, and rehabilitation, but sometimes it feels like everybody is just trying to throw things and see what sticks. I am grateful that, overall, I am alright. But these injuries add up. If I try to give a higher effort, they remind meβ€”the pain limits me.

That's unfortunate, but this is life. Maybe these traumas are just lessons that I haven't learned yet.
